Police officers are individuals, right?! They don't operate from a hive mind. There are, in fact, good police officers.
If those five individuals hadn't killed Tyre Nichols, something there was no systemic or institutional pressure on them to do, we wouldn't be having this conversation. In fact, there was institutional pressure on them not to do it.
They have to wear body cams so that they can be held accountable for their actions. There are rules in place around due process and use of force, rules that they violated. And that is why they are no longer police officers and are facing criminal charges for their actions.
Again, 98% of the time police interactions go more or less exactly as one would hope. That, too, is part of the police system. How can you claim you're taking about the whole when you're actually talking about a fraction of 2%?
