Right. And where did these people you know and speak to get their information? You can't separate the media from the conversation that it creates. It's where all of us get our information. The things is, if we don't make a concerted effort to double and triple check our sources we'll almost inevitably end up with a partially or entirely incorrect understanding of what happened. I"ve lost track of how many people I've had to correct about basic facts of the case in the comments here.

And yes, talking about race simply because Rittenhouse was at the scene of rioting that was ostensibly related to Jacob Black is shoehorning in a racial narrative. It's like saying if you got robbed at a George Floyd memorial that the robbery was racially motivated. As I point out, none of the people who were shot were there fighting for black lives. And Rittenhouse wouldn't have shot any of them if not for them attacking him first. Remember, with all the other guns on the street that night, the only shots fired (other than Rittenhouse's) were fired by people who weren't part of the militia.

There's no need for conjecture about "what and whom" Rittenhouse was in Kenosha to protect. There is a crystal clear timeline as to what happened and why he was there if only people would actually look at facts. In fact, I even helped you out by explaining most of it in the article:

Rioters were destroying property and businesses in Kenosha for two days. The police did very little to stop it. The governor called in too few national guardsmen to restore order. And after the second night of rioting and unrest, Kevin Mathewson, a former Kenosha alderman, put out a call on Facebook for "armed patriots" to come and defend people's property from the looters. Rittenhouse answered the call.

Again, all of this information is readily available just by searching and watching some video. But most people don't do that. They just look at one news source that they always look at (or even worse, the take of some random blogger somewhere who was certain the case was about racism before they even started writing), and that's that. As I said, fundamentally this is an information problem.
