Right. Except almost everybody, religious and secular, agrees that what Hitler did was wrong. We don't need God to tell us, we don't need to scan the pages of a Holy Book before we know, there's nothing written in any scientific textbook, that could possibly be interpreted as, "exterminate the Jews and you'll be rewarded with 72 virgns in heaven."

This is the problem I'm pointing to.

And Germany made significant changes to its political system to prevent the rise of another Htler in the future. Because they didn't believe their electoral system was handed down to them by God.

You can search for examples of secular atrocities all you like (although it's worth noting that Hitler was a Christian/Catholic), and even though religious atrocities dwarf them in number, I won't really try to argue with you. Humans are capable of atrocities regardless of whether they believe in mythical beings.

But some bad beliefs are more resilient and more fanatical than others. And those beliefs, almost invariably, involve religion or some other form of magical thinking.

p.s. Not trying to be rude, but I have a ~2 minute read limit on comments, so I didn't read much past the quoted section. Happy to engage, but please try to be a little more succinct.
