So I'm assuming that you haven't watched the documentary, which makes this conversation a little tricky, but I'm actually glad Walsh doesn't propose his "solution" in the documentary. Because it would be; No trans person should be allowed any form of gender-affirming care ever.

I'm glad he didn't say that out loud to millions of people.

Matt Walsh is making the very valid point that it's fruit loops like Grzanka who are confusing children who aren't trans about gender, which is what's driving the rising numbers of detransitioners who were rushed towards surgery that wasn't right for them and now have to live with regret for the rest of their lives.

He's making the very valid point that surgeons absolutely should be concerned that children aren't mature enough to consent to life-altering surgeries and hormone treatment, and if they're not, it raises serious ethical concerns about whether they're treating these surgeries with the seriousness they deserve.

He's making the very valid point that these decisions are being based on quasi-religious, anti-scientific nonsense that's so incoherent, people need to ramble about whether or not chickens cry to deflect from answering a simple biological question.

The solution, in my mind, is that trans people get the care they need and far more effort is made to ensure that people who aren't trans also get the care they need. Which will be different. This really needs to stop being an opportunity to dunk on the left or the right in so many people's minds. It's so frustrating watching adults quibble in these absolutist ways about an issue that is incredibly nuanced and vitally important for everybody concerned; whether they're trans or not.
