Source please. Because I read several sources on the origins of the word genocide, and all of them mention Polish and Jewish people. Bear in mind, when the word was coined, it wasn't about charting the horrors of the Holocaust. The full horror of what the Nazis did to Jews wasn't known yet. It was a guy, who was Polish and Jewish himself, charting Nazi atrocities during their occupation of Poland. It doesn't dilute the horror of the holocaust to recognise that the Nazis were awful to other people too or that the man who coined a word wasn't talking exclusively about Jews.
I'm not using sloppy thinking. And emotion should come naturally to any sane human being when talking about the killing of tens of thousands of innocent people, the wounding of tens of thousands more and over a million more who have lost absolutely everything they have. I'm sorry you don't like feeling the emotional weight of what you're blindly defending, but then maybe stop blindly defending it.
As I said to you the last time we spoke, you aren't interested in the truth. You're interested in defending Israel. So please stop accusing others of bias. And please stop conflating criticism of Israel's war crimes with "not liking Jewish people." This is lazy, cynical and dishonest. And I think you know it.
Lastly, I can't imagine the cognitive hops you're jumping through to defend the IDF at this point, but yes, they murder civilians.
They murdered three Israeli civilians who were waving a white flag with their hands up, who had stripped to the waist to show they were unarmed, and were speaking in Hebrew to identify themselves. And this wasn't just a bomb blast where everything happened in an instant, IDF soldiers killed two of them, the third managed to run away, and they tracked him down and killed him too. There was obviously no reason to believe these men were a threat or were Hamas fighters. At least you'd assume they were civilians, at best you'd realise they were Israeli hostages!!
They killed a Palestinian civilian in very similar circumstances. Though he hadn't stripped to the waist. Standing still, arms raised, white flag in hand, the IDF killed him Then lied about it, then admitted it.
They killed two women with a sniper rifle. A mother and daughter, on the grounds of a Catholic Church. Please explain how somebody looks through the sight of a rifle, sees a mother and her daughter, pulls the trigger, but isn't guilty of murdering civilians.
And as I mention in the article, they killed an old unarmed man who was surrendering. The solider who killed him knew he didn't pose a threat, He says so, on camera, and his fellow soldiers high-five him for it. You can watch the video for yourself. I link it in the article.
What Hamas did on October the 7th was horrific. They deserve to be punished and/or killed for it. And anyone who defends what they did is monstrous. Every adult understands that fighting Hamas will mean some civilian casualties. But what Israel is doing is so grotesque, so far beyond any concept of self-defence or proportion, that defending it is also monstrous. And all you have to do to see that is think about how you'd feel about any of the examples I've mentioned here, or the tens of thousands of others, if the people holding the guns were Hamas instead of the IDF.
