Sure we would! I didn't say there was nobody with integrity on here! There are plenty. But sadly hot-button topics (and the vagaries of the algorithm) favour nice, simple, outrage porn.

It didn't even occur to me to write about race when I started on Medium. Literally the only reason I did was because I got so sick of the toxicity in racial discourse here, and the damage it was causing, and wondered if I could make a difference (and I'm thick-skinned enough that I wasn't afraid to take the inevitable flack).

In an alternate reality I'm happily writing about some completely different topic or on a different platform altogether and it would seem as if there aren't any voices like mine simply because I didn't decide to weigh in on the topic.

I'm sure there are lots of writers who could write far more intelligently and powerfully about race than I could ever hope to, but they're busy writing about meditation or politics or bitcoin or something😄
