Thanks Alan, this was actually slightly sloppy editing on my part. I knew the general tone of the meetings but meant to go back and use their exact description. They’ve described them as “faculty and staff dialogue meetings”, but I want to highlight that they’re sessions for parents to interact with these staff and that they are, indeed, segregated by race. The issue isn’t that they are focusing on specific experiences, but that they’re excluding all other groups on the basis of race, sexuality etc. So while I see the nuance you’re pointing to, I don’t think the article misrepresents what’s happening.
