That's a difficult question to unravel without being able to probe what you mean exactly by it. But I guess the first thing that springs to mind is intent.

People are wrong about all kinds of things every day. We make generalisations and false assumptions every day. But thankfully, most of us are not bigots every day. I think being wrong and being a bigot is an incredibly dangerous conflation.

Bigotry implies a certain degree of malice. It also implies a rigidity in certain views that is immune (or at least highly resistant) to reason. It implies a blinkered, one-sided view of a group of people. I don't think Dave is guilty of any of these.

But I'll ask you a similar question. Do you see that there's a difference between factual incorrectness and bigotry. And if so, what do you think it is?
