That's fine. But Tony Timpa and Kelly Thomas, etc weren't "in the way of a white supremacist agenda." They weren't abolitionists. They weren't defending black people. They were just citizens like Tyre who were needlessly killed.
You can't have it both ways. If you want to make the case the police are built from the ground up to uphold white supremacy, you also need to explain why they kill innocent white people who are doing nothing to uphold white supremacy. Otherwise, and this is my whole point, maybe there are other more salient factors at play.
If you think I'm unaware if history I can only assume you haven't read much of my work. I draw on history often. But I don't simply say, slave patrols existed, therefore, now and forever, the police are basically slave patrols. That's not pattern analysis, it's being a simpleton. I've asked several times for a deeper analysis than that...whenever you're ready.
No, my aim wasn't to demonise BLM. It was to talk about the failings and to see if anybody could point out the success that I was apparently missing. BLM has failed to protect black lives, failed to reduce police brutality, turned what should be a universal issue into a culture war battleground, and, at least from what I see, has increased racial tension. Yes, I'd call that a disaster.
