This is an odd strawman. I think very few people, me least of all, are claiming that there aren't differing degrees of racism. Nor did I, at any point, even imply that Adams was evil. The strongest epithet I threw his way was "dumbass." Which, given that he destroyed his career over a completely avoidable and predictable own-goal, seems appropriate.
Affirmative action isn't racist in the classical sense of the word. AA is corrective. If I steal from you, and am then ordered to pay back the money and perhaps some extra in the form of compensation, the extra money isn't a new form of robbery. I'm being made to make amends for the harm I caused you.
Black people were denied equal access to education, voting rights, employment, housing, facilities, you name it, until less than 60 years ago. By law.
The laws were finally changed, and you think it's racist to do something to try to correct that injustice?! That the poor white people who faced none of these disadvantages were being discriminated against because a few black people were receiving a fraction of the preferential treatment white people had received since the founding of America? Come on now.
