This is exactly what I'm talking about. Your image of what the Republicans are here is rooted in what the worst of them are. Just as for some Republicans, their view of what the Democrats are is rooted in the SJWs you mention.

Ask them about children in cages and they'll ask you who built them. Talk about Trump's corruption and they'll talk to you about Clinton's. This way of looking at people doesn't lead anywhere. And more importantly it's inaccurate.

Obama's drone strikes and surveillance programs were red lines for some Republicans. They could argue just as strongly about the people who could still support him after such things.

You know I agree with you about Trump, but my point is that nobody can really claim the moral high ground. Everybody's compromising, and everybody can find fault with the other side.
