This is mostly true, but some of its offshoots (like "whiteness" studies and intersectionality) are easy to understand and indeed form the backbone of most of DiAngelo's nonsense.

It's hard to say how widespread the problem is, Fox News is, of course, eager to play every example they find on a loop. But my own research suggests that it's becoming worryingly common. As collectivising white people and black people into these categories of oppressed and oppressor becomes more common in wider society, I guess it's inevitable that that will trickle into schools.

And yes, you're absolutely right, I only alluded to it briefly, but America has a seriously poor track record of teaching kids about the history of racism. Which then makes it easier for the crazies on the other side to present themselves as the good guys.
