This is such a childish way to look at the world and the things that people say.

"Oh, he used the word 'but'! His comments weren't purely, wholly affirming of my point of view! Therefore, everything he said in support of my position was a lie and secretly he hates me and everybody like me."

Sadly, I see this mindset increasingly commonly recently. If he was being insincere, why even bother to say it? Do you think your approval matters to him? He'd already been paid, none of the backlash matters to him one way or another, maybe he just means what he says.

If your position is that people have to agree with everything you think or they're your enemy you're going to make a lot of enemies. As I said, what's tragic and infuriating is that a lot of those people are mostly on your side.
