😅 This is the problem with the widespread fetishisation of "the black experience."
You really think I've never had a cashier forget to take off the security tags when I've been shopping? Or just had the machine malfunction as you say?
9 times out of 10 I get told to go on my merry way. And when I've been stopped, the staff were polite, as was I, and everything was resolved without the slightest drama. I've seen similar things happen several times to other people, white and otherwise.
So sure, with a large enough sample size, a white person will face less scrutiny than I will because we'll encounter some racists along the way. But I promise you, the people who act if constant scrutiny is a daily part of the black experience are lying to you. Or possibly to themselves.
