This sounds wonderful. I've actually wished for the same thing. But don't you think this is something we need to consciously decide to do?

First, by not always measuring black progress in relation to white progress, and secondly by not reflexively talking terms of white/black gaps instead of rich/poor gaps?

Martin Luther King suggested something like this around 60 years ago. We seem further from that mindset than ever today.
