Well, the incredibly obvious answer to this question is that America and the allies actually did liberate Afghanistan.
Unforgivable mistakes were made. Thousands of civilian lives were lost. I'm not defending that. But the motivation was different. So while it's not okay by any means, it's obviously less "Orwellian."
"You guys" always think you're being clever by pointing to a different example of a problem instead of talking about the problem at hand.
I'm actually planning to talk about America's actions in Syria and Afghanistan in a future article on this situation. Not every article can be about everything.
