Well, yes. There are definitely some silly semantics gong on here. No, threatening a dog is not like threatening a person. I'm not defending Christian's behaviour. If Amy had called the police and said there was a man, even an African-American man, threatening her dog, I'd have been right there arguing against anybody claiming she'd been racist. And the police certainly wouldn't have accused her of filing a false report.

But arguing that what he said is equivalent to threating somebody's life is so absurd that it's only by leaving out important parts of the story and exaggerating others, as you did in your article, that you can even attempt to make this case.

A casual glance at your feed shows that you're one of the people I mention who's tired of talking about racism. You're tired of seeing ordinary disagreements treated as racist attacks. Maybe you've even convinced yourself that because some people exaggerate racism, it doesn't really exist. But consider the possibility that this isn't an all or nothing situation. Christian isn't blameless, I make that pretty clear, but you're trying to argue that Amy is blameless is ridiculous. The police were absolutely right to charge her for lying because she very, very clearly lied. And she did so because she thought his race would count against him.
