Well, yes, not much to be gained by quibbling over word choice. My point is that affirmative action as it currently exists has failed to provide the "compensatory consideration" that King spoke of. And I think, as he seemed to, that it would be more effective if eligibility were based more heavily on need rather than skin tone.
As I've written many times, the idea that black people are a homogenous mass with the same needs and struggles is completely false in 2022. And its persistence works against those who most need hep at pretty much every turn.
