What's tragic to me is that while some are stuck in a victim mentality, and others really are victims, there's a third category who profit by convincing people to think of themselves as victims (or people like Fred Joseph who profit by pretending to be victims).

I have a lot of empathy for the first two types. The people with a victim mentality have usually inherited it or been convinced of it when they were young, and the people who really are victims of racist systems obviously deserve to be taken seriously.

But the people who make a living from convincing black people that they're oppressed when they aren't, have my utter contempt. And people, like Joseph, who use "the race card" as a shield for their greedy, selfish, ugly personalities...well, let's just say we need to stop giving people like him attention.
