Why? It has literally nothing to do with the article. I'm always astonished by how the slightest, most tangential mention of slavery triggers at least one or two readers.
Yes, I know other slave trades existed. My understanding of history extends far beyond America thank you. Like what is the point? Does saying stuff like this make you feel intelligent?
