Wow, very late replying to this. Sorry, must have got lost in the notifications.
Please could you enlighten me on what you think Murray's point was? If I were entirely focused on the genocide in Syria, say, or of the Uighur Muslims, say, would you claim that I was anti-Syrian or anti-China? No. I don't think you would. And now would Murray.
Do you think the activists who devoted their time to talking about South Africa during Apartheid did so because they hated South Africans? No. And nor does Murray. Murray's point, if you can even call it that, is moronic. It is a lazy, cynical attempt to manipulate people from thinking deeply because he is simply a racist with a posh accent.
And to address the question behind the point, do you think the focus on Israel might have something to do not only with the length of time Zionists have been oppressing Palestinians, but that fact that almost every government in the West is providing the money, weapons, and the political cover to make it happen?
If the West were providing cover for any of those other atrocities, if people who I long believed to be sane and reasonable were cheering for and/or desperately trying to justify them, then yes, you can bet your ass I'd be talking about that too.
No, I don't think I've lost my way. I think I'm horrified to learn how far gone many people I respect are on this issue.
