Yeah absolutely, I read about a few cases of this while I was researching this article. Genitalia is a very good (99.98% accurate) proxy for biological sex, but it's not perfect. Males and females can be born with the ambiguous genitalia and I can only imagine how complicated that must get when you add in a little religious extremism.

I think it's a real shame that so many people feel constrained by their biology with regards to what they can do or who they can be. Society really drills that into us, and yes, religion even more so. As I said in the article, I think times are changing, but definitely not fast enough for some people.
