Yeah, absolutwely nobody with their eyes open could argue that racism isn't a problem in America. I'm not disagreeing at all. But the fact that Obama was a two-term president suggests that racism isn't all that's driving people at the polls.
I'd bet that people who are racist (at least to some degree) voted for Obama because they thought he'd make their lives better.
Self-interest trumps racism for those who aren't full-on white supremacists. But self-interest also trumps principles for a lot of voters who may not have liked what Trump said, but thought he'd help them.Those people are reachable.
