Yeah, I'd be careful of this one. It leaves you exactly as vulnerable to lies as the people who blindly believe everything the government or the press tells them. Only in your case, the fact-checking mechanisms that keep your information in check are a lot shakier.

Actually, forgive me for talking in ridiculously broad strokes, I'd say that this is the current dividing line between the extremes of the left and the extremes of the right (to be clear, I'm in no way suggesting you're at either extreme). The extreme left believes everything they're told by the government and mainstream press (with the press overwhelmingly left-leaning). The extreme right disbelieves everything. They're both wrong far more often than not.

I believe in people's ability to sort through information accurately if they take the time and make the effort. It's these last two measures on which most people fail.
