Yeah, I'm honestly not that interested in whether his repentance was genuine, or even whether his racism was (some suggest that his extreme stance on segregation was largely an attempt to win votes from white supremacists). He doesn't need absolution from me (or from anybody now, obviously).
But anybody who fought as hard and as long as he did to oppress black people, deserves to be rememberd for it. I think it's as it should be that his racism will forever be a part of his legacy.
