Yeah, no doubt. This was bizarre. I'd say the one thing everybody seems able to agree on is that he judge handled the case incredibly unprofessionally.

But no, reasonable minds don't know that a black person would have been shot. I find this argument really frustrating. Rittenhouse walked up to the police with his hands up, they had no idea at that point that he'd shot anybody, and they didn't take any action.

Do I think a black person would have been treated differently? At numerous points though out the arrest and trial? Yes, absolutely. But this knee-jerk cynicism is psychologically poisonous. As I say in the article, people were saying exactly the same about Chauvin and Arbery and Charlottesville. Wrong in each case. Do we ever stop feeding ourselves this message that were doomed?

He's a right-wing hero because there are lots of racists on the right and even more gun nuts who want justification to run around the streets with AR-15s. You'll get no argument from me. I'm not the least bit surprised that Fox News love him. But that's like telling me that the Proud Boys love him. The trial in Kenosha went exactly as it should have according to the current state of the law. The law needs to change That's been obvious for a very long time. But you should be looking at Biden, not Fox News.
