Yeah, obviously this wasn't a 100% complete and itemised plan. I didn't expect Netanyahu or Haniyeh to run to the negotiating table using my article as a crib sheet. There are details here.

First, if we were able to isolate "everyone who wants to live in peace, without blockades or apartheid or rockets destroying their homes," then no, nobody would be slaughtered. That's the point. When Hamas took over in 2006, 79.5% of Palestinians wanted a peace agreement with Israel. 75.2% thought Hamas should change its policies regarding Israel. 78.1% hoped corruption would decrease under Hamas.

I think most people on both sides are sick of the killing and are willing to compromise. I'm sure there are many people in Israel who would act differently to Netanyahu. I'm equally sure the there are many people in Gaza and the West Bank who would act differently to Hamas.

But we need to stop ignoring the reasons why people in Gaza and the West Bank are angry with Israel when talking about how angry people in the West Bank and Gaza are with Israel.

I'm not talking about the terrorists and the people who commit murder. I'm talking about he people who live under the Israeli blockade and behind the West Bank barrier. This has been a problem for decades. Most people haven't become homicidal maniacs because of it. But of course they're angry. This needs to be seriously and honestly addressed.

Most people with "skin in the game" only have skin in one side of it. Which is why they only ever talk about the failings of one side. As we've seen over the past 50-some years, this approach has done a great deal of harm.
