Yeah, of course. I completely understand this feeling. Though, as you say, there's no guarantee this would happen, and I think it's healthier psychologically not to automatically convince yourself of the worst scenario. As I said in the article, plenty of people were absolutely certain the Chauvin and Arbery and Charlottesville verdicts would go against black people, and none of them did.

I think a lot of people feel bad about the Rittenhouse verdict because they were sold a racial angle that never existed. I was amazed by how many people, even up until a few weeks ago, thought he shot black people. I'm not pretending that black people are treated the same as white people by the legal system. Clearly they're not. I'm just saying that it's harder to fix those problems if the default reaction is cynicism.
