Yeah, off the top of my head I can't think of how categories like heterosexual and homosexual are useful, but at least they're meaningful. We know what's at one end of the scale (somebody who feels absolutely no sexual attraction for anybody of the same sex ever) and what's at the other (somebody who feels absolutely no sexual attraction for anybody of the opposite sex ever).

We can talk meaningfully about how we're all somewhere between these extremes, even if, as I said, I'm not sure why we'd need to talk about that.

But what (or who) is at the extreme end of the "manliness" scale? Or the "womanliness" scale? The concept is revealed to be nonsensical almost immediately. Which then makes it nonsensical to say, "I'm somewhere in between." In between what?! And how is that different to everybody else?!
