Yeah, the revelations about the Uvalde police being too scared to enter the school puts paid to that fantasy, right? And these guys are much more highly trained and well equipped than your average would-be "good guy with a gun."

The person most likely to be shot by a gun is its owner or a member of their family. Violence is hard and scary. Laws can't be written around people's delusions of grandeur.
