Yeah, there are a thousand layers to think through. I mean, most obvious is the idea that certain jobs are worth so much more, as in multiple orders of magnitude more, money than others.

Looked at with fresh eyes, the idea that a teacher is paid less, never mind so much less, than a stockbroker, for example, is pure insanity. Fixing the vast range of economic disparity the world over, not abolishing wealth, just making a living wage available to all, would change the world immediately.

Of course, I say "just" like this is a simple thing to do. 😅

But yes, if we could all do the work that interest us without having to worry whether we could afford the basics we need to live, that would be quite something. Then, whether people pursued careers in academics or entertainment or whatever it might be, there'd be less need to worry about proportions. I don't see individualism as the key problem. I see it as the illusion of scarcity.
