Yep, I completely agree. If he'd given her the finger or a few choice words, none of us would be talking about it. I'm reluctant to say "we all know what she meant," though.

Some will say I'm being too credulous, maybe I am, but is it really difficult to believe that a young woman living in New York uses the word "hood" in her daily vocabulary? I don't think so.

But regardless, let's say it was a snide reference to "the hood". This is still an incredibly minor incident. That's all I'm really saying. That he should react the way he did is indefensible, so it's worrying that so many people are defending it.

As I said, the clearest explanaition I can see for that, is the belief that black people can't be held to the same standards of maturity and proportionality as everybody else. This is not a path to equality.
