Yep, I saw this too. I first became aware of it during COVID but I think it had been going on for much longer.

In his defence, he's been quite open about his pursuit of attention for its own sake and the pleasure he gets from being a provocateur. He talks about how he's been "identifying as black for years" in the same livestream.

I think he just got a bit high on his own hype and forgot that people outside of his fanbase weren't as gullible and susceptible to his "powers of narrative control".
