Yep, I think this is a huge problem too. I mean, let's be clear, black people are treated differently to white people. There's oodles of data to support this.

But the extent to which it's true is so vastly overstated that many black people develop a persecution complex for essentially no reason. Black people are treated worse, but not so much worse that it's the explanatory factor in the overwhelming majority of their interactions. The self-defeating lie that convinces them otherwise is, as you say, a huge disservice.
