Yep, I think you're 100% right.

But my aim here was mostly to explain that it's possible to oppose an idea, even an idea that affects a particular group, without hating that group. It's possible to point out the dangerous elements in a group without thinking that everybody in the group is dangerous.

The thing is, bathrooms are already policed by gender identity. Trans women who "pass" use women's bathrooms without issue already. They have done for years. But, of course, bathrooms aren't the only women's space.

Spaces where you get naked, like communal changing rooms, places where your sex determines performance, like sport, spaces where you can't leave, like prisons, these all require different considerations around privacy and safety and inclusion. I don't mind making changes for a small percentage of the population. Just not changes that are unfair to 50% of the population or put them at greater risk of violence than they already have to deal with.
