Yep, I've had people say the same thing to me. I also met a dog in South Africa who didn't like white people.
The point being that calling a dog racist in the same way that one might call a human racist is pretty asinine. More importantly, it's not like we can get them to read a bit of James Baldwin to sort them out...
Animals are unpredictable creatures who can be trained in a particular way by racist humans (in which case it's still the humans who are at fault) or who can randomly attack people for reasons that have nothing to do with societal racism. It's hard to see how bringing them into the conversation on race helps.
