Yes! And Palestine didn't! You don't get to unilaterally decide that you're going to take over half of somebody else's country and then play the victim when they refuse! Literally nobody on earth would accept this in their country.
And as it says in the article you're literally commenting under, the Arabs refused the original deal at Camp David because it was a terrible deal, so terrible that Israel's chief negotiator publicly admitted he'd have refused it too. But negotiations continued, and the Arafat didn't walk away, the Israelis did, because Israeli public opinion against a fair Palestinian deal was so high that Barak worried he'd lose the upcoming election.
The Palestinians wanted a peaceful compromise from the very start. But as Arabs were the majority, had been the majority for over a thousand years, and wanted to remain in their country in the homes they'd been living in for generations, a fair deal meant a single democratic state where Jews and Muslims lived together as equals. They were perfectly happy for Jews to come, just not to take over. As Azzam Pasha, the general secretary of the Arab League said:
"We are fighting for an Arab Palestine. Whatever the outcome the Arabs will stick to their offer of equal citizenship for Jews in Arab Palestine and let them be as Jewish as they like. In areas where they predominate they will have complete autonomy."
How are you all so ignorant about this and yet so opinionated about it??!! I swear, if you just read what the people were saying back then, you'd debunk all the bulls**t racist propaganda you've absorbed instantly.
