Yes, I didn't mean to suggest you were privileged in a way that I wasn't. Neither of us have ever experienced what the Palestinians have been experiencing for decades. But you don't seem to be including that fact in your analysis, whereas I am. Your judgement of the motivations and choices of Palestinians ignores the fact that you've never had to endure what they're enduring. If you had, your feelings would undoubtedly be different.

Also, the injustice that you despise is the cause of the threat that Israeli residents live under. This isn't a counterbalance, you've confused cause and effect. I don't doubt that there are antisemites among the Muslim population and that there were even before the formation of the state of Israel. But the reason why they aren't just a few cranks, but the governing body of Gaza, is the decades of injustice Israel has inflicted.

The solution to the former is the end of the latter.

We agree that Hamas wasn't justified in its behaviour. I don't think history will see it that way either. As I've said from the beginning, nothing justifies the slaughter and rape of innocent people, whether it's Israelis or Palestinians doing the slaughtering. But Hamas' actions were inevitable given the actions of successive Israeli governments. You cannot oppress and brutalise a people for decades and be surprised when some of them snap.
