Yes, I know. I even mention some of them in the article. The problem isn't trans people. I've made this clear over and over agin, but let me do so again.
The problem is not trans people. I know and support trans people.
The problem is an attempt, which none of these other thousand year old cultures make, to obfuscate the concept of what a woman is. To totally dissolve the definitions that allow us to offer women safety and privacy from men. To ignore the fact that gender identity (the very notion of which seems to be a symptom of gender dysphoria) and biological sex are different things and require different considerations.
For sure, some politicians are looking for an excuse to stir up people's fears and ignorance or just to practice some good old-fashioned bigotry. Sadly, pitting people against each other keeps you n the media spotlight. But that doesn't mean that every attempt to discuss these issues is rooted in hatred.
