Yes, I wrote an article where I employed this exact conceptual device almost a month ago. You seem so convinced that I haven't thought about this. You're wrong about that.

I'm not starting my timeline on October 7th. I haven't, at any point, tried to frame the situation that way. I'm well aware of the crimes Israel is committing and has committed. So I'm saying that if you want to criticise Israel, go right ahead, but the Israeli government's past and present actions don't justify the slaughter of innocent Israeli civilians. I say that right there in the article.

You seem to be saying that Hamas' actions don't justify the slaughter of innocent Palestinian civilians, I AGREE!!! I agreed with you in my very first reply! I'm taking issue in the article with people who only seem capable of looking at one side or of blaming Israel for Hamas' actions and absolving Hamas themselves of guilt.

I'm also saying that it is extremely foolish--which is what the word asinine means--to claim that an organisation that just got done slaughtering 1400 innocent people has "softened" in it's approach towards those people. I showed you evidence that senior Hamas officials still openly call for the eradication of Israel. I'm saying that it's extremely foolish to ignore all that because they removed some language from a document when they decided to seek election. I'm saying that it is extremely foolish to take somebody's words over their violent, barbaric actions.

If you think pointing out these extremely foolish things is "douche-baggery" I think you enjoy affirmation, not debate.
