Yes, I'm well aware of that. But this has nothing to do with the Rittenhouse shooting. We could argue hypotheticals about what would have happened to Blake if he were white until the end of time. What happened to him was awful. But he wasn't even close to blameless in that situation. If he were white, I don't think anybody would be criticising the police officer for what happened. We likely wouldn't know Blake's name.
But as I point out in the article, Rosenbaum wasn't there for any reason related to black lives. In fact, he's on video calling people the n-word that night. And if he hadn't attacked Rittenhouse, the other shootings almost certainly wouldn't have happened. The rioting isn't because of racism. The protesting is because of racism. The rioting is because some people want an excuse to be violent.
And this isn't just me talking. It's Martin Luther King. It's John Lewis. It's Rosa Parks. It's people who have lived through racism a thousand times worse than the people who were setting fire to buildings can imagine. I'm sick of this belief that black people are just too emotionally fraught to use logic. In the midst segregation and race riots, black people maintained their composure enough to fight and win their rights. Black people can be every bit as calm and logical as you are. The people who choose to loot and riot have never changed anything for the better. And they never will.
