Yes, most Muslims and Christians have a healthy attachment to living. But nowhere in the Bible does it claim that believers have a duty to wage Holy War against infidels. Nowhere does it assure believers that they will be rewarded in heaven for martyring themselves. Nowhere does it tell Christians that the highest services to God is to die in Jihad. Islam and Christianity are very different religions in their susceptibility to extremism.

Which is probably why I've never heard of Christians killing people because they drew a cartoon of Jesus. Why I've never heard of Christians shouting "Jesus Is Great" before blowing themselves up along with a bunch of innocent bystanders. Why modern Christian societies are infinitely less likely to support the killing apostates or stoning of homosexuals or the subjugation of Women.

So yes, the conditions in Gaza are miserable and must be ended. But humans throughout history have endured miserable conditions. Most of the Muslims in Gaza have a healthy attachment to not slaughtering innocent civilians because of those conditions. But the ones who do it justify it with Islam.
