Yes, the Palestinians, or at least Hamas, would almost certainly launch massive terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians.

But this is only a conundrum because you and your ilk keep pretending that the only alternative to slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent people is abject stupidity.

I am rightly condemning Israel for years of violent and illegal oppression. I think that should stop. But it should obviously stop in such a way that the extremism their violent and illegal oppression has fomented in Gaza doesn't lead to the slaughter of innocent Israeli civilians.

No serious person suggests simply tearing down all the walls and calling the job done. There are likely going to be decades of work needed to unpick the machine that seventy-five years of murder on both sides has built. And many, many more to undo all the hatred and mistrust.

But the first step in that unpicking is an end to the killing and a beginning to the process of unravelling the injustice. This might even require increased Israeli security in the short/medium term. But security that is fair and follows the law.

Here's an easy starter: all settler activity ends. Immediately. Roads, land grabs, "price-tag" attacks, all of it. No more funding or support from the IDF. In fact, the IDF actually do their jobs and stop the settlers from killing Palestinian civilians and driving them from their homes.

Here's another one: Israel agrees to define its borders in accordance with international law. Israel has encroached so far beyond those borders that it may take years to complete a withdrawal to their own land. But they set a timetable for doing that and stick to it. Conditional on military aid.

And yes, obviously, this period will also require things like the demilitarisation of Gaza. I'm not interested in pretending that the people of Gaza are all in love with Israel. Frankly, I don't blame them one bit for their anger towards Israel. And yes, Hamas obviously have to go, just as Netanyahu's government do, frankly.

But these are things reasonable people can discuss. As long as those reasonable people are willing to take an honest look at what's been happening. The problem with you blind defenders of Israel is that you're fundamentally dishonest about Israel's many, many, many sins in this conflict.
