Yes! This is what I'm saying. Though I'm sure the occasional weirdo does, I'm sure very few people refer to themselves as BIPOC. I suspect very few people refer to themselves as ni**ers either.

It's a label, applied by others, to collectivise people who, frankly, aren't a collective. It's not meant in the same demeaning way as ni**er, obviously, but it lumps everybody who isn't white together in a way that is not meaningful or useful except to uphold the idea that there are white people and then everybody else.

As James Baldwin asked, why do we need this concept? Because black people and people of other colours, including white people, are just people. There are no issues that affect all black people, but there are issues that affect black people disproportionately. Same for indigenous people and other "people of colour." The same is even true for white people. So why is BIPOC useful? What exactly is the common cause?
