I was looking a bit further back in time to de jure segregation and the years shortly after slavery, but absolutely, as we’ve moved forward in time, more and more people of all colours have been caught in the same trap. As MLK said, “many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realise that their destiny is tied up with our destiny.”

As time goes on, the issue is becming poverty far more than race.
