You do understand, don't you, that Palestinian prisoners have been held, without charge or trial, in some cases for years, and were anally raped by IDF guards, and when the news of this broke in Israel, a mob of Israelis descended on the prison to demand the release of the rapists?!

If you want to trade blows about immorality, I have plenty of receipts. Or, perhaps, you can drop the whataboutism before you embarrass yourself further.

Because the problem you hypocrites continually bump into, at least when you try to argue with me, is that I'm not defending the wrongs committed against Israeli civilians. I'm certainly not stupid enough as you apparently are, to condemn 2 million people because some of the hostages were kept in family homes (there's also the question of what choice the homeowners were given), but yes, the non-combatant hostages did nothing wrong and Hamas was absolutely, unequivocally wrong to kill/rape/abduct them.

But there are two points here. First, it's often forgotten that many--I think most--of the hostages are combatants. And second, those hostages would have been out of Gaza months ago if not for Netanyahu. And if they're dead, as some of them certainly are, this, too, is partly the fault of Netanyahu. Less than two months after their abduction Hamas released 105 Israeli hostages. Israelis have been marching in the streets to get the rest released. But Netanyahu has made it clear that he won't stop killing Palestinians or withdraw even if they are released, giving Hamas no incentive to negotiate.

Not only that, but he has consistently blocked ceasefire deals and hostage negotiations. A fact that sadly is horribly underreported. And, f course, the IDF, through their recklessness and "shoot-first, shoot later" approach to warfare has killed several of the hostages themselves. Not to mention the hostages killed in the relentless bombing and those likely now dying of starvation.

So sure, we should be talking about the hostages. I agree. Just as long as you notice that Netanyahu isn't.
