You really are a binary thinker.

No, not everybody is making the proper distinctions. That doesn't mean nobody is. Or even that most people aren't. You just have to be more intelligent about where you're getting your "real world experience" from.

Basing your understanding of black people's views on an extremely left-leaning platform that incentivises extreme takes, makes no more sense than me getting my "real world experience" of white people's views from reading the Daily Stormer and 8chan. Or, topically enough, from a single, obviously controversy-baiting poll.

If you interacted with black people in the real world, you'd know that only a vanishingly small minority of black people would even pretend not to understand that there are degrees of racism.

I don't think there is a consensus that Adams should be cancelled. I just think most people don't care that he's been cancelled and so haven't objected. I'm on record for my opposition to cancel culture, but I can't generate much outrage for the "consequences" he's facing. I certainly can't blame anybody who says they don't want to work with him anymore. But as I point out in the article, if he's crossed the line, so have lots of other people who faced no consequences. And the hypocrisy is wrong. I've pointed out this same hypocrisy numerous times before.

I have no idea why you have this martyr/messiah complex for Adams, but no, he didn't "sacrifice" himself. It's very clear from his comments after the fact that he had no idea what he was bringing down on himself. He thought he could get away with what he said because he's arrogant and attention-seeking and vastly overestimates his intelligence. His comments will do absolutely nothing to move anybody forward. They'll be forgotten in a week if they haven't been already.

And, again, if he truly wanted to start a more productive conversation about race, he already had absolutely everything he needed in order to do so. But he didn't. In fact, he recommended the exact opposite of a more productive conversation. If that qualifies as a "reasonable voice" in your mind, I think what you mean to say is that he said out loud what you wish you had the courage to say.
