đ You're really going to ignore 90% of my response and then accuse me of dodging questions?
I'm not sure why you specified "young", just trying to wring out a little bit more emotional leverage? I suspect youâre not about to argue that âoldâ or non-âpassingâ trans women should be treated differently. Ideally, trans women would be kept on a separate wing, segregated from the cis prisoners. If this segregation was done properly, it wouldn't even matter whether it was in male or female prisons. Indeed, this does happen for vulnerable prisoners, at least in some cases.
If you don't like the idea of trans and cis prisoners being separated, and there are valid reasons there, then the same thing that happens to all "young" male prisoners should happen. They should be housed with other male prisoners and protected from violence. We could have a good long talk about how prisons should do more to protect the inmates from violence. I think we'd probably agree on a lot. But those failings of the prison system aren't women's responsibility.
As for the only point you did (halfway) address, what if it's not safe for a trans man to be in a male prison? Then they go to a female prison in your book, right? What if it's not safe for a cis man to be in a male prison? You realise that male prisons aren't safe for anybody, right? Including men. Should they all just get to go to female prisons because they don't want to be imprisoned with men?
Again, as far as I can see, all of your solutions rest on placing the maximum burden possible onto women. Please do correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't heard any solutions from you yet.
